>Climbing or Ski Touring?

>This winter is throwing up some really difficult dilemna’s!

Conditions in the Lakes today are utterly gorgeous. Crystal clear skies, weak winter sunshine and shimmering snow covered hills. We’ve not had the dumps that pther parts of the UK may have had and certainly there has been better cover earlier this winter, but generally its excellent and now, more importantly, climbing conditions are really starting to come in, especially if snow/ice and classic gullies are your thing.

However the pull of going ski touring in the Cairngorms is simply too strong. The thought of touring in a remote corner of the Highlands is simply too much to ignore and according to the SAIS folks conditions are supposed to be fantastic if a little hard going at times.

So Steph, Keith and myself are heading up tonight. Weather conditions for this evening do not look great but we have Keiths van, so can always sleep wherever we may get stuck, hopefully though we’ll get to somewhere aroudn Braemar / Glenshee tonight and venture out into the Southern Cairngorms tomorrow and Sunday.

I can’t wait!
