>A wintry weekend beckons

>Another wintry weekend outlook beckons and its looking like i’ll be staying close to home for the climbing action. It would appear a few people have been out this week – Dollywagon Pike, Great End and Brown Cove Crag seeming to be the most popular but its hard to tell exactly, some people hold their cards very close to their chest when it comes to giving away what winter lines may be in condition!

Anyhow the temperature has fallen back markedly in the past 24 hours, only a degree or two above freezing today I would say here in the valleys with a few flurries of mostly light snow and by the looks of it, some decent fresh snow above about 500 metres that would have fallen yesterday and overnight.

And with the forecast looking like it’s going to remain cold I think tomorrow we will be taking the ‘safe’ option and possibly heading up to Great End to scope out the gully lines there.
