Coniston Fell Race Recce

Its Friday evening and this evenings end-of-week fell run was an impromptu recce of the Coniston Fell Race route.

This evenings weather was just about perfect, light winds, clearing skies and cool. The snow thats been covering the highest summits over the last few weeks has just about gone, and about time too (!) since its very nearly May.

It felt like a bit of a slog at times on the approach to Wetherlam, despite some strong running initially, but once that first summit was out of the way it was generally good running through a chilling evening breeze up and over Swirl How and onto the ‘Old Man’.

Tonights time was pretty meaningless, I’d spend so much time faffing with my camera and generally enjoying be out in the fells but i was pretty happy with my time and it means my target of 1hr 25 for the race seems to just about be on. For those who are interested, tonights stats:

Time: 1hr 59 mins Distance: 14km Ascent: 1065m
